    Chinalco’s Assiatance in Tibet Development

    Chinalco has undertaken the task in supporting Tibet since 2004 with general manager Xiao Yaqing heading the task, and “Providing Tibetans a better life”is the objective of the whole 240,000 staff of Chinalco.

    Chinalco has sent two delegations to Chaya county,Qamdo, Tibet to execute supports to the region within 3 years. The company has invested more than 40 million yuan and 23 projects for poverty alleviation, which bring a significant change to Tibet, especially in people’s living levels.

    Chinalco’s assistance in Tibet comprises a tap water plant, new socialist countryside construction, 6 primary schools, a kindergarten, medical treatment and facilities, intranet for administrative departments, farming industry promoting programme and a gerocomium.

    Meng Deli, prefectural Party committee secretary of Qamdo and deputy chairman of Tibet, praised Chinalco for having been doing quite a good job in supporting Tibet with wonderful projects, excellent officers and obvious efficiency.
