(China Aluminium Network) Guangxi Yinhai Aluminium is considering further cutbacks in its smelter operations in the near term as weak market conditions prevail, a company source said Thursday.

"We may even shut down operations totally, it all depends. Management is reviewing it now and a decision is likely to be made in January before Lunar New Year," he said.

Guangxi Yinhai operates two smelters in South China with a combined primary aluminum smelting capacity of 450,000 mt/year. It has cut back about 50% of total capacity since September after receiving notice of power cuts in the region in August.
