Alumina Import Increased in the Fourth Quarter

(China Aluminum Network) According to China Customs alumina import volume was 230 thousand tons in November decreased 16% yoy, and from January to November import 1680 thousand tons also reduced 57% yoy. Since this year, alumina import volume kept went down while increased obviously in the fourth quarter.

According to statistics in August this year only imported alumina 35 thousand tons, and in September and October imported alumina 80 and 260 thousand tons respectively, then in November the import volume broke through 200 thousand tons. As for monthly import volume within this year appears U curve and still remains growth space.

Affected by price decline in LME, overseas alumina price continued went higher. On 9th December, alumina price fell to 311 usd/ton Australia while 2700 yuan/ton in Henan. Imported alumina enjoys price advantage than domestic alumina, this is the main reason that caused increasing. With the rising ratio between Shanghai and London, the advantage of foreign alumina price still remains expansion space.
