Chinalco Lowers Alumina Prices by 6.7% to CNY2800/Ton

(China Aluminium Network) Chinalco has lowered its alumina prices by 6.7% to CNY2800/Ton, the company said on Thursday.

Analysts said the price cut likely indicates a bearish outlook for the aluminium industry from the country’s largest aluminium producer due to global economic uncertainty and a lack of clarity on the direction of domestic monetary policy.

Traders said the cut may also be a result of domestic producers turning to alumina imports due to their price advantage and better quality.
