[China Aluminum Network] September 14, recent days, China Customs released imports and exports data of aluminum scrap in August. In August China imports 200 thousand tons of aluminum scrap, decrease 23.08%, compared with the same period of last year. Comsumption continues weak and the high cost of import are the main reasons for the decline.
There are three main reasons: the first one is, with the approaching of consumption dull season and weather turns hotter, there is an obvious decline of remanufacture aluminum alloy demand in China. The slow down consumption of aluminum scrap impact imports directly. The second one is the high price of foreign suppliers, unwilling to export with low price. Th last one is the lower profit of Chinese importers, as well as the the rise of customs cost, this is also a reason contributes to the decline.
In conclusion, the weak consumption of domestic remanufacture aluminum is the main reason for the decline. It is expected to recover in September as the consumption regains, will increase aluminum scrap to some extend, but still limited.
