[China Aluminium Network] Due to the electric power shortage in Guizhou and Guangxi Province, the aluminium companies are suffering from great loss. It is predicted that China’s primary aluminium output may decline in September.

“The electric power supply for many aluminium companies hasn’t been stable since last week”, an official of one aluminium company said, “the total aluminium output of Guizhou Province occupies 10% of China’s annual aluminium production volume. However, the aluminium output of Guizhou in September may decline by 10%-20% compare with August.”

The official added that residents’ high demand for electricity caused by the hot weather also put great burden on the electric power supply. This had led to low productivity for many aluminium companies.

China Southern Power Grid Co. warns that affected by the dry weather, electric power shortage could last for a long time.

In Henan Province, the most productive province for aluminium, many companies have to lower their production capacity because the local government has cut off the electric power supply to them in the late July. An official of a aluminium company in Henan said they hadn’t heard when to resume electric power supply.
