[China Aluminum Network] August 10, Jia Yingsong of MIIT said in Baotou August 8 that they would release mandatory management method as soon as possible in the next half year in order to boost healthy development of rare earth industry. China Minmetals previously announced written proposals in the press conference to advocate rare earth enterprise suspending production.
Our country carries out mandatory production currently. In this March, Ministry of Land and Resources announced the total rare earth production amounts to 93,800 tons while MIIT calls for REO’s production output to 93,800 tons and smelting amount lower than 90,400 tons.
Nevertheless, some insiders show that the enterprises have already reached national issued rare earth exploitation index while some companies are still producing excess products.
On August 5, Ministry of Land and Resources also asks related provinces and regions to strictly carry out overall planning for rare earth resources as well as enhancing total control and divisional management.
However, many people are doubt about the efficiency of these national documents. Jia Yingsong also points out the key of the mandatory production management is implementation.
