A circular issued recently by the State Reform and Development Commission and China Electricity Regulatory Commission requests that the localities should gradually abolish the current preferential electricity price enjoyed by aluminum electrode producers.
The circular also calls for adjustments to be made to the power price paid by some highly energy-consuming industries in a bid to promote energy conservation.
The circular has given deadlines for abolishing the different levels of discounts enjoyed by aluminum electrode enterprises.
Experts predict that this policy change could potentially affect some listed companies such as Yunnan Copper (000878.SH).
