    Chalco And Britich Company Will Jointly Build Sponge Titanium Plant

    Reportedly, Chalco and British Aricom Plc will jointly build sponge titanium plant. With an overall investment of 0.3 bln $, Chalco holds 35% shares while Aricom holds 65% shares. The plant is expected to have 15,000t annual capacity after its completion in 2009, Chalco said. So far, both parties have finished feasible study for the project and waits for approval by Environment Protection Department of China, Development and Reform Commission of China and Commerce Department of China.


     


    Industrial analysts predict that the domestic demand for titanium will be increasing sharply in the next few years. Characterized by hardness and lightness, titanium is widely used in planes and  brassies. Sponge titanium is a basic kind of titanium.
