BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - Chinalco, China's largest alumina and aluminum producer
and parent of listed Aluminum Corp of China Ltd (Chalco), posted a profit of
more than 20 bln yuan last year while core revenue rose 24.1 pct to 131.7 bln
yuan, major local financial newspapers reported.
Chinalco's total assets stood at 201.4 bln yuan at the end of 2007, the
reports said, without giving a comparative figure.
In 2007, Chinalco saw its alumina output rising 8.8 pct year-on-year, while
output of raw aluminum and aluminum alloy was up 20.7 pct, and aluminum
materials output was up 27.4 pct, according to the newspapers.
Referring to Chalco's planned purchase of electrolytic aluminum producer
Lanzhou Liancheng Aluminium, the reports cited Chinalco as saying that the
transaction is still in the process of completing necessary documentation and
awaiting regulatory approval.
