Japan, Hong Kong Fall, But India Sets Record

HONG KONG (MarketWatch) -- Asian markets were mixed Thursday, with resource stocks such as Inpex Holdings, BHP Billiton and PetroChina Co. pacing losses in Japan, Australia and Hong Kong, while Indian shares climbed to a record intraday high as ICICI Bank soared _disibledevent="Times New Roman">Elsewhere, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 index slipped 0.2% to 6,078.70 and New Zealand's NZX 50 index fell 0.3% to 3,899.88. South Korea's Kospi dropped 1.1% to 1,824.78, unable to hold on to gains after rising as high as 1,855.07 earlier in the session, and Taiwan's Weighted Index gave up 0.3% at 8,057.27.
