(China Aluminum Network)Recent years, especially since the beginning of 2005, the price range of international raw materials increased, also copper, gold and other base metals. Since 2005, copper price was up to 9000 dollars per ton from 2000 dollars per ton. The financial crisis in 2008 declined from 9000 dollars per ton to 3000 dollars per ton. In 2009, copper price rose to 8000 dollars per ton from 3000 dollars per ton. In the first half of November 2010, international copper price created record high once again with over 8900 dollars per ton.

With the pressure of inflation, copper showed great rising trend. Copper raw materials cost accounted for over 70% of copper wire cable, so copper wire cable price also increased.

China begins to draw up standards for aluminum wire cable

As for the future of aluminum wire cable in China, Weigang thinks it mainly depends on other domestic manufacturers following-up. He says the reason why China Mobile and China Unicom use less and less aluminum wire cable is that China hasn’t formulated national standard for aluminum wire cable firstly, secondly is that few domestic manufacturers follow up their technology for aluminum wire cable.

The price difference of aluminum and copper raw materials has undergone great changes since last year. Wei Gang believed that if copper price keeps uprising, aluminum wire cable is certain to enjoy good market share in the future.
